Exosomes are the smallest subset of extracellular signaling vesicles secreted by most cells in the range of 30–150 nm in diameter. They have gained enormous momentum recently and many consider their remarkable generative potential as the biggest breakthrough in the field of regenerative medicine over the past 3 decades. Over 5’000 publications are currently being published yearly on the topic and this number is only expected to dramatically increase as novel therapeutic strategies continue to be investigated. This talk focuses on the understanding of exosomes including their cell origin, biogenesis, function and characterization. Thereafter, an overview of their application in regenerative dentistry and medicine is presented including its use as an adjunct to PRF therapy.

Exosomes have been utilized for a multitude of degenerative diseases such as periodontal disease, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, anti-aging, joint injections into knees, shoulders, spines and TMJ, hair loss, facial esthetics and scars. Participants will better understanding the massive potential and opportunity that exists utilizing exosomes in

 

1) Regenerative periodontology and Implant Dentistry,

2) Facial Esthetics,

3) Hair Regeneration,

4) Joint injections into the TMJ, knees and shoulders, and

5) as potential immunotherapy boosters via IV administration.

Dr. Richard J Miron

DDS, MSc, PhD, Dr. med. dent.

Dr. Richard Miron is currently lead educator and researcher at Advanced PRF Education and an Adjunct Visiting Faculty in the department of Periodontology in Bern, Switzerland where he completed his PhD studies since 2009.

 

He has currently published over 450 peer-reviewed articles and is currently the most cited dental researcher in private practice in the United States with over 4000 citations yearly to his work. For the past 10 years, Dr. Miron has also been recognized by Dentistry Today as being one of the top 100 CE educators in the country and the youngest to ever make the list

He is the #1 ranked researcher on Platelet-Rich Fibrin therapy as per Expertscape independent review and developed many novel technologies and protocols including the injectable liquid-PRF formulations, optimized protocols utilizing horizontal centrifugation, and the longer lasting form of PRF termed extended-PRF through the BioHeat process. He has written 10 textbooks including his best-sellers titled: “Next Generation Biomaterials for Bone and Periodontal Regeneration”, “Understanding Platelet Rich Fibrin” and “Modern Implant Dentistry”. He remains the only author in the world to have 3 separate textbooks finish #1 most sold in the world in any given year. Dr. Miron has been awarded many international prizes in dentistry including the ITI Andre Schroeder Prize, the IADR Young Investigator of the Year in the field of Implant Dentistry as well as the IADR Socransky Research award in the field of Periodontology.
